Cisco is one of the best networking devices companies in the world. To produce professionals and experts in Cisco Network Solution, Cisco has designed the career path in the form of tests and certifications. Here I will give some explanations about Cisco Career Path.
There are three levels in Cisco Career Path, which are Associate, Professional, and Expert. And about the path, there are six categories that you can choose to focus in, which are:
- Routing and Switching
- Design
- Network Security
- Service Provider
- Storage Networking
- Voice
In Associate Level, there are two titles which is CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) and CCDA (Cisco Certified Design Associate). To get CCNA title, one must pass “640-802 CCNA” exam and to get CCDA title, one must get “640-863 DESGN” exam.
In Professional Level, there are five titles which are CCNP (Cisco Certified Network Professional), CCDP (Cisco Certified Design Professional), CCSP (Cisco Certified Security Professional), CCIP (Cisco Certified Internetwork Professional), and CCVP (Cisco Certified Voice Professional).
In Expert Level, there are six titles, which are CCIE (Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert) Routing and Switching, CCIE Security, CCIE Service Provider, CCIE Voice, CCIE Storage Networking, and CCDE (Cisco Certified Design Expert).
Below is the path for each categories:
- Routing and Switching: CCNA -> CCNP -> CCIE Routing and Switching
- Design: CCNA & CCDA -> CCDP -> CCDE
- Network Security: CCNA -> CCSP -> CCIE Security
- Service Provider: CCNA -> CCIP -> CCIE Service Provider
- Storage Networking: CCNA -> CCNP -> CCIE Storage Networking
- Voice: CCNA -> CCVP -> CCIE Voice
